The heather on the North York Moors is always a splendid sight in August, but it seemed to be particularly fine in 2011.

John Footman led a walk on 24 Aug that caught the heather at its very best, and was further enhanced by one of the few sunny days in the month!

On 6th July 2011, the Club celebrated its 75th anniversary with a group of walks in the Great Alms Cliff area, where the HRC's very first walk took place.  The day ended with a celebration party in Huby Village Hall and was voted a great success by all who took part in it.

On 4 Jun 2010, members of the Club took part in a Long AwayDay to Edale in Derbyshire.  The walk was led by Jonathan Marriott and took in various of the local walking highlights, including and ascent of Jacob's Ladder.  As is traditional on such walks, the day ended with a convivial meal.

On 20 Feb 2008, Bob Taylor led a "B" walk at Bolton Abbey.  The walk followed several days of freezing fog, and the whole area was covered with a heavy layer of rime, or hoar frost.  The result was a beautiful and totally unexpected display that lifted the hearts of the whole party.

John Footman's Farndale walk on 2 Apr 2008 was blessed with good weather, and caught the valley's sea of wild daffodils at their very best.

Around 16 members joined him on the walk.

The first Annual Club Walk took place on 6 June 2008, and was based around the famous Yorkshire 3 Peaks.  Jonathan Marriott's photographs capture the feelings of those who completed the full 24 mile challenge.

Even in the Broad Acres, it rains sometimes.  These pictures show the imaginative solution taken when a recent walk was confronted by an exceptionally muddy farmyard.

Myton Bridge is a Grade 2 listed Victorian cast-iron structure crossing the River Swale at Myton-on-Swale, at the point where the Swale joins the River Ure to form the River Ouse. Sadly, through no fault of the local community, the bridge fell into disrepair.

After a long campaign, the bridge was fully restored, and reopened in June 2003.  The Harrogate Rambling Club is proud to have contributed to the campaign to raise funds to restore the bridge.
